Maryland's Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor is where Francis Scott Key wrote <hl>"The Star-Spangled Banner"</hl> in 1814 after witnessing the British bombardment. The fort's flag, measuring 30 by 42 feet, is now preserved at the Smithsonian.
